Famous art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai was discovered dead at his N.D. studio in Raigad, Maharashtra.
On Wednesday morning, renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai is thought to have killed himself by suicide at his own ND Studio in Karjat. Desai hanged himself at his studio, according to police sources. The incident is being looked upon by Khalapur police. He was 58. Desai is renowned for his filmic masterpiece sets. His associates busted through the door on Wednesday morning and discovered him hanging after he failed to reply to the house help.
Police arrived at the scene right away after being informed. Desai’s death was being investigated from every perspective. Nitin Desai, the art director of “Lagaan,” passed away, according to Maharashtra MLA Mahesh Baldi.

Nitin Desai was born in 1953 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is one of the most well known and respected art directors in the Indian film industry. He has worked on many films and TV shows. He was renowned for building the spectacular sets for numerous Sanjay Leela Bhansali films including Bajirao Mastani. His father, V. R Desai was also a well-known art director in the film industry.
Desai has won multiple awards for his work including the National Film Award for Best Art Direction for his work on Lagaan. In addition to the National Film Award for Best Art Direction, he has also won several Filmfare Awards for his work on films such as Devdas and Jodha Akbar. He had also been recognized by the International Indian Film Academy and the Zee Cine Awards.
He was facing problem for repaying a 252-crore debt, and a bankruptcy court had just last week approved an insolvency suit against his business. According to reports, Nitin Desai’s business, ND’s Art World Pvt Ltd, borrowed 185 crore through two loans from ECL Finance in 2016 and 2018. His financial issues started in January 2020.
